Price Following
Following price changes from one month to another and detecting significant price decrease. Significant change is change of more than 5%. Price increase is generally ignored, if the increase in price is too extreme, it will be captured by price anomalies feature
How does price following manifest
Whenever a significant price decrease is detected from one month to another, it will be reported as Action Taken, counting towards total savings performed.
Which prices are being followed
This is default behavior for all resources that are identified by the application (also Manually Marked resources).
Why price following
Sometimes you might decide to perform a different course of action than the use case expects.
Let's say that over provisioned storage account was detected. This storage account has 100 TB premium file share. Use case will monitor the storage account during each scan, whether it was changed from premium to standard. You have decided not to change the SKU because it would be more time consuming to move the files in and out, but you have changed the size from 100 TB to 5 TB. Without price following, this significant cost saving would not be detected.
In general, the price following exists to account for all other cost saving activities
that you might choose and still have them visible in your optimization efforts.
